Picking up from where I left off

Well it has been a while, so what has been happening?

I think it has been a couple years since my last post, which is really sad if I do say so myself.

A lot has happened and I mean a lot.  I landed a job in Australia in Busselton WA.  The job was great the area was fantastic, I thought finally its really happening.  But my life really isn't going to be easy we had a serious family illness back in the UK.  After 6 months my wife went back to the UK and I followed her shortly after.  I fully intended to return to Australia within a year.

In the meantime I got a job here in the UK working at a Community College doing IT of course.  I was also contacted by some old mate from a band I used to play in asking if I wanted to play again as they had just lost their Bass player.  Why not I thought and a few weeks later I found myself gigging, something I had not intended doing again.

This is the perfect time to put up my musical history together in this blog.  I was first involved with a mates band "Incognito" I used to do the live sound mixing I really enjoyed this and decided I wanted to be on the stage.  The first band I was in was "Lucy Genics" which became "Crust" I played one gig and wasn't told about the next gig ???? guess they didn't want me in the band, hey ho.

I then answered an ad a joined and joined a band called The Present.  we weren't too bad.

The Present came to an end after about two years.  Then  I was down the local pub with some mates and as we got drunk that night we talked about how it would be great to be in a Punk band. How easy was this to set up the band less drummer was together .... behold Uncle Fester.

This was just pure fun no seriousness at all, it didn't really last that long but it was good especially playing with best friends.

My next band was "majikfish" this band was quite serious to be honest and we got to play with some great bands such as Feeder, Longpigs, Muse & Crazy Gods of Endless Noise to name just a few.the band must have lasted for about 4 years.  I met Gez in this band and we became great mates, such a shame that music can change things too.  When this band came to and end I really didn't know if I ever wanted to play again so bad was the end.

However I did start jamming again and then I got tot move to Australia. Although the the move didn't work out I found myself band in a band almost as soon as I got back to the UK.

I joined some ex-bandmates and The Dastardlys were formed.  The band has gone through some personnel changes and sadly its has ruined one good friendship.  4 years into it and the band has recorded and has got quite a good following,  However I think it might be at the point of changing again.  I think my time is possible coming to an end, sad but you can't push things longer than they will go.  It has however enabled me to understand myself allot more.

What this band has given me more than anything else is the confidence to know I can do it again, and as you who all read this blog know my end goal is to be back in Australia.  So I am now buying up recording equipment with the intention of recoding my own demos for when the next band happens.

So onwards and upwards, or should I be saying onwards and downwards.
