New Harley and a kick up the ass

Well as the title states, I bought myself a Harley a little while back. Is it a mid-life crisis I don't think so I have always had bikes since I was 15, just had some breaks in between. So I have got myself a 1991 Sportster 1200 XLH. At first I thought what have I done as it felt really agricultural but it grows on you really quickly and I have already found myself on Ebay looking for bits. The biggest issue is will I be able to take it to Australia with me? I hope so.

As for the kick up the ass ...... well I went in hospital for a minor op, and come out with a DVT (blood clot) this has really made me think about life a bit more its about enjoying it not worrying about what may or may not happen. I will be on medication for nearly six months so they tell me and I'm not allowed to drink ???? I have been off work and I am now back but I did have the really good weeks so I sat in the garden and soaked up the warmth of the sun dreaming about when it wont just be a couple week of the year. The DVT has just made me more determined to do what I want in life and Australia has to be done sooner rather that later mid next year if all goes to plan.

The house is nearly ready to go onto the market and we had it valued and its good more than we paid and with all the work that we have done it should cover the cost of our first Australia adventure.

I sold my website this week, it was a local community one www.thisisSaltash.co.uk so that is another piece of the jig-saw put into place. I have bought a new domain though www.theEmonds.com this will be for messing around with web ideas and I think I just might move this blog over there and join it up with other things that I do online, like my photography.

Life has a funny way of going in patterns and since the DVT things are just getting better. Now come on who wants to employ me in Perth? I'm a great Sys Administrator / Network Manager with over 12 years experience with MCP MCSA MCSE MCTS MCITP EA and other stuff.

Another Phone Interview

Well it seems I'm not having a problem getting interviews over the phone but everyone I get is for remote locations, well when I say that I mean not CBD's. I guess to get those interviews you just have to be there.

As for the interview it was yet another one of those long silences over the phone when neither party knows who should speak next. As for questions yeh they did their homework and prepared alot (with the help of the internet I suspect, but only two questions tripped me and I knew enough to give a simplistic answer. You have to remember too that it was 7am and I was still in me jim jams.

I'm really not sure its the location me or the wife wants to be honest, our dream includes some sea and beach, I think the kids want more of a beach lifestyle too.

Generally life is having its ups and downs I have managed to get a DVT which will apparently affect me for up to six months, and worse than that I am not allowed to drink more than 1 unit of alcohol in any 24 hours what a bummer and with the world cup and Bar-B-Que season on the doorstep.

MCITP

Well I have this afternoon passed MCITP, that has to do something for my career. It was hard work but very much worth it and very rewarding personally. I think I will go on and get another accreditation under my belt, but I am not really sure what next. I am thinking of doing Sharepoint as that seems to be mentioned quite alot these days but there is also Exchange and ISA to consider.

On the Australia front no news really, but that will change later in the year once we have sorted out some small issues here in the UK.

I think its time to up the game with my photography its taken quite a back seat over the last couple of months. If you would like to see some of my photography take a look here http://www.flickr.com/photos/edie209/ leave a comment and let me know what you think.

I have been offered a Job in Australia

Well its time to start writing again, it makes me feel good even if noone else reads it.

I'm sat here writing this listening to "Reserection Joe" by The Cult god they are (were) such a great band managed to see them twice too. Anyway I diverce, whats been happening well I have had two interviews for Australian Jobs and one for a UK job, don't know if I am ready to leave my current position at the moment as I get to study loads as there is no pressure at the moment and I will be MCITP Enterprise Administrator very soon so thats a good reason and then I can demand higher wagesas I think my current company gets me too cheap. Back to the interviews one was for a Job in Hindmarsh which is in Victoria the interview was quite strage really with all the delay and not being able to see people faces, I didn't get it but I don't think I would have wanted to live there really, no affence to anyone who lives there but I don't think it was for me and my family.

The 2nd interview was for a position in Rockhampton North Queensland, I ended up having two interviews the first was really funny because I was woken up early one morning by the phone answered it and was straight in to an interview, laying in bed ????, well they then wanted a 2nd interview over skype and it went well, well so well that they offered me the job, but they couldn't offer me any more than 12 months at a time so I turned it down. What do I feel now? well strange really, actually very good I now know it IS possible to land a job in Australia from the UK.

Oh and the 3rd interview was here in the UK but I am still waiting to here from them but unless they offer at least £8k more than what I am on I think it a no go.

So whats next well I think get the house finished and on the market...... then Australia Part 2 well lets hope so what the hell did I go through the visa process for if not to give Australia a damn good try.
